Zoseco, Eric Zosso
“With the support of SCORE, we’ve launched, increased revenue, expanded our initial square footage, found a stronger differentiation strategy, and have automated more processes within the business,” Zosso says.
Air Force reservist Eric Zosso has a background in satellite technology. However, his military experience also helped him learn a lot about leadership and collaboration.
After moving to Northwest Indiana, Zosso discovered there were no coworking spaces in a 20-mile radius of his home of Valparaiso. He decided to open Zoseco, a local coworking space designed to help remote workers, freelancers, and new business owners get away from the distractions of their home offices.
As he prepared to open Zoseco’s doors, Zosso turned to SCORE for advice from professionals who had been in his shoes before.
Zosso initially consulted SCORE for help completing his business plan.
“One of the main challenges faced as a small business owner has been overcoming the desire to work initially on each aspect of the business,” Zosso says. As this side experiment turned into a sustainable business, he turned to SCORE for guidance.
“The SCORE chapter in Valparaiso feels more like a team approach to mentoring, and it’s an extremely rewarding experience to receive help from multiple mentors like Jack Phelps, Jim Hubbard, Bill Herring, Susan Sheehan and Jane Szymczak.”
Zosso reports interacting with SCORE mentors almost weekly, “Since everyone is so involved in the business community.”
